Yamaha S90XS and S70XS

The new Yamaha S90XS and S70XS synthesizers feature all the Voices, Performances, and Virtual Circuit Modeling effects found on the flagship MOTIF XS Music Production Synthesizer. In addition, Yamaha has added a huge 142 megabytes dedicated exclusively to high-quality piano waveforms, for a total of 456 MB of instrument samples.

First among these new piano sounds are the new samples taken from Yamaha’s famous S6 concert grand piano. These fully capture the richly textured sound of that wonderfully expressive instrument, and provide a warm concert grand piano sound unavailable on any other keyboard. For variation, the MOTIF XS piano based on a Yamaha CFIIIS is also available.

These new Yamaha synthesizers have a host of other features that live performers will appreciate, like the combo input jack that accepts microphones. Simply plug in a microphone, tweak the INPUT GAIN knob (while checking the convenient PEAK lamp), and you’re all set! You can also use the Control Knobs to finely adjust the volume and even directly apply reverb or chorus to the sound.

The new Yamaha S Series synthesizer are also a perfect companion for your computer music production system, too, serving both as a master keyboard and a full-function, multi-timbral tone generator. With the DAW Remote function and its 50 different control templates, you get amazingly easy, intuitive control over your main DAW software and VST instruments - directly from the panel controls! In addition, the Voice Editor and Remote Editor software give you convenient, comprehensive computer control over all the sounds, settings and functions of the S70XS and S90 XS synthesizers.

Entry Level Musical Keyboards

First time buyers of musical keyboards are not always aware of the features and benefits of particular models, nor or they aware of what would benefit them or their child most. But there is one important feature piano teachers insist on in a portable keyboard - touch response. That is the ability of the keyboard to respond to the players touch; playing a key harder will produce a louder sound, playing it softer will produce a softer sound.

One exception to this would be if you're buying a digital keyboard for a very young child who is not going to be taking lessons, but using it to explore music and sound. However, even young children are taking organized music instruction these days. Let's take a look at the entry level electronic keyboards from both Yamaha and Casio. Roland makes some excellent keyboards too, but they do not have any models in this price range.

The Yamaha PSRE313 and the Casio CTK4000 electronic keyboards both feature touch response, and other similar features like 61 keys, drum rhythms, and hundreds of voices (sounds), more than you'll ever use. The Casio has a USB port to connect it to your computer (software required), and the Yamaha has MIDI In/Out ports that allow you to do the same with an adapter.

In the not so distant past, if you purchased an inexpensive instrument, it sounded inexpensive. Not today. Because of the advancement of recording techniques and digital technology, today's musical keyboards sound great and are loaded with useful features. A few dollars go a long way, and the quality of the products is very good.

Please remember, these are entry level keyboards suitable for young beginners, and should be replaced after a successful first year - two at most - of lessons. So, if you're a first time musical keyboard buyer, speak with your teacher about their recommendations, and give us a call if we can help. We'll do our best to make your decision a little less stressful.

Yamaha Arius YDP160 and YDP140 Digital Pianos

Almost everyone is on a budget during these tough economic times, whether it's groceries, entertainment, or eating out. But when it comes to a major purchase like a piano, the budget gets really tight! That's were the very popular and well made Yamaha digital pianos come in; you can have your cake and eat it too. Yamaha electronic keyboards are well made, sound very good, and are affordable. Let's take a look at a two of our best sellers.

In addition to the 88-key weighted keyboard action, the Yamaha YDP140 digital piano features duet-friendly twin headphone jacks, a choice of six voices, and a high-efficiency 6W x 2 stereo amplifier for the two internal speakers, and four types of reverb capable of making a small room sound as big as a concert hall.

The Yamaha Arius YDP140 digital piano features Yamaha's sophisticated AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) with Dynamic Stereo Sampling for the ultimate in instrument realism. Taken at different 3 levels of soft, medium and loud each key is comprised of multiple stereo recordings of an actual grand piano. This provides subtle differences in volume and timbre depending on how you play the keys, and gives you full expressive control over the sound. In other words, you get a great piano sound! The next step up from the YDP 140, is the Yamaha YDP160. Let's take a look.

The Yamaha YDP160 digital piano is perfect for students and experienced players alike, and provides true piano sound and feel. The GH keyboard and 3-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling voices deliver remarkably authentic sound and natural expressiveness, making it a true joy to play, both in practice and in performance. The damper pedal includes a half-damper effect, giving you nuanced expressive control over the sustained sound. Dual voice capability lets you play two different instrument sounds at the same time, while a 1-track song recorder allows you to capture your original musical ideas and performances.

Both the YDP160 and YDP140 digital pianos are part of the new Yamaha Arius Digital Piano series. These digital pianos provide exceptionally natural, grand piano-like touch, with realistic weight gradations - heavy in the lower end, and light in the upper. The premium Graded Hammer Effect (GHE) action of the YDP160 provides even greater expressive control than GHS. In addition to its quieter mechanism, GHE features an extra key sensor capable of reproducing fast repetitive playing of a single note with perfect articulation. So Graded Hammer Effect keyboards suit skill levels from Chopsticks to Chopin Etudes and everything in between.

Yamaha YDP223 Digital Piano

The Yamaha YDP223 digital piano is America's best selling console digital piano. It has the right look, right features, and the right price!

The YDP223 combines great sound and features in an attractive cabinet that will add a touch of elegance to any home, church or school. From the moment that you turn it on and start playing, you'll be glad you made the decision to buy Yamaha, the world leader in musical instrument manufacturing.

The YDP 223 features an 88 Key Graded Hammer Action. Graded Hammer Action emulates the action of a grand piano – heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble areas of the keyboard (on a grand piano, the hammers get thicker as you move from treble to bass). And nobody does this better than Yamaha, one of the most respected manufacturers of upright and grand pianos in the world today.

The YDP223 comes with a selection of 14 voices and features a Stereo Sampled AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) piano sound that feels, reacts and sounds like an acoustic. When you play harder, the sound is louder and brighter. And when you play softly, the sound is quiet and warm. And of course, it never needs tuning!

Yamaha YPG635 Electronic Keyboard

The Yamaha YPG635 digital keyboard is the latest in a series of Yamaha keyboards that began with the PSR-GX76. The order of appearance is: GX76, DGX500, DGX505, YPG625, and finally the YPG635.

The GX76 had 76-keys, the DGX500 and 505 had 88-non weighted keys, and the YPG625 was the first of the Yamaha PSR keyboards to have 88-weighted keys.

The YPG-635 has 88 weighted graded hammer action keys. Upgrades from the previous model (YPG625), include 64-note polyphony, a beautiful matching bench and an optional three-pedal unit, along with additional DSP (Digital Signal Processing) effects that enable realistic sounding Distortion Guitar and Rotary Organ. It also includes USB MIDI and USB to Device for removable storage, along with a high resolution Live! Grand stereo sample, song recorder, score and lyric display.

New Yamaha YDP160 and YDP140 Arius Digital Pianos

Yamaha 's best selling console digital pianos - the YDP series - now have a name customers can ask for instead of only a number. ARIUS is the newest name in digital pianos and is sure to stand for the quality and piano-realism Yamaha has come be known for.

A combination of "Aureus" (Latin for "golden") and "Aria", ARIUS can be taken literally to mean "golden song" and there are two new models that are sure to live up to their moniker.

The Yamaha ARIUS YDP140 and ARIUS YDP160 have improved upon the YDP213 and YDP323 in tone, touch, and cabinetry. New piano Voices featuring 3-layer Dynamic Stereo Samples deliver true acoustic piano tone, while their Half-Damper Effect sustain pedals fluidly measure foot position for varying levels of sustain just like an acoustic piano.
The new dark alder YDP140 and dark rosewood YDP160 top-to bottom cabinetry replaces the walnut finish and Plexiglas music rests of the previous models for a more traditional console appearance.

All Yamaha ARIUS Home Digital Pianos include:
3-layer Dynamic Stereo Piano Samples
64 note polyphony
User song record
Adjustable touch response
50 Greats for the Piano music book

The ARIUS YDP160 and YDP140 digital pianos are available now. For more information on Yamaha digital pianos and keyboards, visit the music instrument music store at www.AndysMusicOnline.com.

Yamaha YDP213 Digital Piano

The Yamaha YDP213 digital piano uses Yamaha's AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation technology and true Stereo Sampling. With every key you play, you hear digital recordings (like an audio CD) of the same notes on a Yamaha acoustic concert grand piano. This exceptionally realistic, acoustic sound experience makes the YDP-213 a natural choice for pianists of all levels.

Besides outstanding sound, the YDP-213 offers incredibly natural piano touch. Applying the know-how acquired from over 100 years of crafting fine acoustic pianos, Yamaha has designed a remarkably expressive GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keyboard. Similar to the popular Graded Hammer Effect action, GHS keys are weighted heavier on lower notes and gradually become lighter as you play up the keyboard. Pianist will notice the realism as soon as they start playing.

The classically beautiful wood grain finish, complete with a sliding protective key cover, tastefully matches virtually any decor. And with no need for the inner hardware of acoustic pianos, this digital equivalent is much easier to move. Best of all, because digital audio doesn't't fade or degrade, the YDP213 is maintenance-free – there's no need for expensive, periodic tunings or other technical upkeep.

Yamaha NP30 - New Electronic Piano

The Yamaha NP30 electronic piano offers Yamaha's first-ever Graded Soft Touch key action. While the touch is lighter than the Graded Hammer Standard and Graded Hammer Effect actions of the more robust digital piano models, Graded Touch provides medium resistance in the left hand that gets lighter as you move up the keyboard allowing faster passages with your right hand. For lower-impact playing, this action is also ideal for aspiring pianists who suffer from arthritis or repetitive stress disorders.

The Yamaha NP30 can also perform as a basic home-studio MIDI controller with a top-notch piano sound. When capturing note and performance data with a quality tone generator is desired, but bells and whistles don't fit into the budget, the NP30 provides everything you need and nothing that you don't.

Yamaha Motif XS8 Synth Workstation

The Yamaha MOTIF XS8 work station has a massive 355 MB of high-quality waveforms and samples on board. A single Voice can have up to eight separate sound elements, enabling composite sounds of remarkable complexity and nuance. Among the standout Voices on the XS8 is a resonant, meticulously recorded concert grand piano sound that is practically worth the price of admission by itself. New acoustic piano, electric piano and orchestral samples - not to mention the richly textured and distinctly electronic synthesizer waves - give you the sonic tools to fully realize virtually any style of music and any instrumentation.

The Yamaha Motif XS8 has a wide selection of special Mega Voices that provide even more expressive nuance, when used with sequencer tracks or the special Mega Voice Arpeggios. Mega Voices are not meant to be played from the keyboard because of their complex velocity layers, but have special expressive sounds that are designed to be triggered by recorded data - for example, letting you create an acoustic guitar track with authentic sounding muted playing, slides and bell-like harmonics. Other Voice-related features include a uniquely natural "half damper" effect for acoustic piano sounds. This gives you nuanced control over the sustained sound when pressing the damper pedal, depending on how far down you press the pedal.

Using the eight available Elements, XA allows you to more effectively recreate realistic sound and natural performance techniques - such as legato, staccato and key release sounds - often used on acoustic instruments but unavailable or difficult to realize on electronic keyboards. It also lets you assign Elements to on/off panel switches, and change sounds within a Voice in real time - for example, playing a classical guitar voice and switch between playing normally and playing high harmonics. XA also offers other unique modes for random and alternate sound changes as you play.

The 400 built-in accompaniment Styles, each with 15 different sections, and the versatile real-time controls give you the power to perform fully arranged songs, instantly, intuitively and interactively. To spice up your performance, use the Multi Pads to trigger a wide selection of one-shot phrases and special loops while you play.

If the Tyros2 is a bit much for you, check out the Yamaha PSR3000 and PSR1500. Both are digital keyboards with similar features, just less of them. For additional information on these Yamaha electronic keyboards, visit www.AndysMusicOnline.com.

Yamaha CP300 Digital Piano

The Yamaha CP300 digital piano, like all fine instruments, begs to be played. Sit down at the CP300, and the keyboard becomes an extension of your hands and your musical imagination. The authentic piano voices and rich expressiveness come alive at your touch, and the sound is big enough to blast through a full band onstage—yet nuanced enough to work magic in an intimate club.

For the serious pianist the CP300 gives you the same pedal control as an actual grand piano. Sustain, Soft and Sostenuto jacks are available on the CP300. On certain piano sounds, Sustain can be partially applied—reproducing the “half-damper” effect of slightly muting the resonating strings on a real piano. The CP300 also has an fourth pedal input that can be used for controlling a variety of sound settings, such as Reverb or Chorus level, or the brightness of the sound.

Creating the authentic sound of the CP300 digital keyboard involved extraordinary attention to detail. Yamaha used meticulously recorded stereo samples of top-quality instruments, taken at various playing strengths, and included subtle elements such as String Resonance (harmonic overtones), Stereo Sustain (open strings while pedaling), and even Key-Off Samples (recordings of felt dampers coming to rest on vibrating piano strings)—providing the most authentic sounding and finely nuanced acoustic piano voices possible. There’s also a wide variety of other dynamic sounds, including vintage electric piano, organ, guitar, strings, and much more.

Yamaha’s extensive experience in crafting fine acoustic pianos helped them in creating the CP300 and CP33 digital pianos. Their advanced Graded Hammer Effect (GHE) action gives all keys an authentic resistance that increases from the top register to the lower—just as on an actual acoustic piano. Which means that you can naturally pound out thunderous low notes with your left hand and let the fingers on your right dance and fly with the high notes. The CP300 digital keyboard practically plays itself, working with you—not against you—and brings out the very best in your performance.

Digital Piano Models - Yamaha YDP223, YDP323, and YDP213

Yamaha Digital Piano Series: Part I

Digital Keyboard Models Yamaha YDP223, YDP323, and YDP213

Most people who are players, and who are familiar with Yamaha electronic keyboard products, know about the quality and sound of Yamaha digital pianos. In the past few years, the cost of owning a digital piano with weighted action has plummeted to an all-time low.

In the not too distant past, say 5-6 years ago, the least expensive Yamaha digital piano with weighted action cost about $2000.00, and it did not have the quality of sound and features of today's electronic keyboards. Today's models are feature rich, and have a much improved sound and keyboard action. Let's begin with the Yamaha YDP223.

Yamaha YDP223 Digital Piano
The YDP223 has been around awhile, but it is still one of the most popular weighted key digital pianos we sell. It combines great sound and features in an attractive cabinet that will add a touch of elegance to any home or church. The YDP223 features an 88 Key Graded Hammer Action keyboard. Graded Hammer Action emulates the action of a grand piano - heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble areas of the keyboard (on a grand piano, the hammers get thicker as you move from treble to bass). The earlier digital piano models certainly didn't have this feature!

The YDP223 has 14 high quality voices for you to choose from. These include 2 Grand Pianos, 2 Electric Pianos, 2 Church Organs, 2 Harpsichords, Vibraphone, 2 Strings, Jazz Organ, Choir and Guitar. And you can combine two sounds at once, like Piano and Strings. For your learning and listening pleasure, you'll find 50 built-in songs. There's even a songbook included too. And finally, there is a matching padded bench.

The Yamaha YDP series of digital pianos also includes two other models, the YDP323 and the YDP213. They are less feature rich, and do not have the sound of the YDP223, but they offer a lot of bang for the buck!

Yamaha YDP323
The Yamaha YDP323 digital keyboard uses Yamaha's renowned AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation technology and Stereo Sampling. When you play a key on the YDP323, what you hear is a "sample", or digital recording, of the same note on a high quality concert grand piano. This exceptionally realistic, natural acoustic sound makes the Yamaha YDP323 ideal for anyone wanting true piano tone.

Like the YDP223, the YDP323 has three pedals - damper, soft, and sostenuto - to let you perform more expressively. It too has a built-in digital recorder, variable touch sensitivity, dual mode, and digital reverb. Through the end of the year, Yamaha is offering a $100 mail in rebate. For additional information, click this link: Yamaha YDP323.

Yamaha YDP213
The YDP213 is the most affordable digital piano in the Yamaha YDP series. It has the expressive GHS (Graded Hammer Standard effect) keyboard. Unlike conventional digital piano keyboards that use springs or dampers to simulate piano feel, the GHS keyboard uses weights and mechanical linkages to provide a new level of realism. You'll notice the difference it makes as soon as you start playing.

The keyboard on the Yamaha YDP213 even has variable touch sensitivity. Select the hard, medium or soft setting to match your playing style or finger strength. Turn off sensitivity for a fixed response setting, ideal when playing the organ. Other features include 64 note polyphony, 6 voices, dual voice mode, metronome, and digital reverb. Matching bench included, too.

So, there you have it. Three very good digital pianos with good looks to match their quality sound (don't forget the matching bench that's included free), and there's a price point for almost any budget. Check them out on our website www.AndysMusicOnline.com for complete information and pricing, or give us a call if you want to talk to a real person.

Yamaha YPG525 Digital Keyboard

Have you ever played a song and wondered what it would look like as sheet music? And for singers, the screen also displays chords and lyrics to XF compatible songs. The Yamaha YPG525 Portable Grand is an 88-key portable keyboard with a piano focus. It includes piano-style keys that not only look like piano keys but retain the characteristic size and shape, making it easier for a budding musician to move to an acoustic or digital piano. Other piano-centric features include a large wave ROM that includes high resolution Live! Grand and Live! The P 70 uses Yamaha's proprietary AWM stereo sampling. It's sounds were recorded directly from a variety of instruments and each voice is recorded in stereo, and faithfully replicates the sound and warmth of the original instrument.

Responsive piano action is at your fingertips with the new Graded Hammer Standard keyboard. Yamaha's GHS keyboard recreates the feel of a grand piano. This allows seamless transition from digital practice to acoustic performance. The P70 not only duplicates the sound of a real piano, it emulates the feel and action as well.

While the sound quality of the P 70 captivates, it also compels with its impressive visual design. Lightweight construction, curved corners, and built- in speakers make the P70 look stunning in virtually any setting. Choose from either black or silver to complement your own personal style.

Yamaha's integrated speaker system makes bulky powered speakers a thing of the past. The P 70 uses highly efficient amplifiers that pack more sound into a lighter digital piano. With 6 watts per channel, these keyboards are ready to go whenever you are.

Rather than simply switching sustain ON or OFF, the Yamaha P70 responds to 127 levels of pedal depth. This allows for a more authentic piano performance by emulating the fluid control a pianist has over the damper pedal. Half pedaling is just one more example of Yamaha's dedication to its acoustic piano heritage.

Play along with or simply relax to the P70's selection of 50 piano classics.
